Professional & Trade Association Management.

Administration · Governance · Conferences

Consulting and management for professional associations, trade associations, and membership organizations, by Patti Miller, CMP.

The role

The association's operational centre.

Governance · Operations · Continuity

Comprehensive professional association management designed to foster growth, streamline board governance, and maximize member engagement.

Patti serves as Executive Director or Administrator, or as a fractional or interim Executive Director: the association's operational centre, its institutional memory, and the address every member writes to.

Best suited to

Societies, professional and trade associations, member organizations, and invitation-only forums whose leadership is volunteer and busy, where the work must be flawless and entirely invisible.

  • Operational oversight and day-to-day management
  • Vendor selection, contract review, and negotiation
  • Systems and process design: documented, transferable, durable
  • Compliance calendars, filings, renewals, and standing obligations

Fit

Who this
is for.

The four situations this work is built around.

  • Executive Directors of professional or trade associations seeking strategic support
  • Association Administrators managing day-to-day operations
  • Boards seeking interim leadership or governance guidance
  • Membership organizations navigating growth or transition

Engagement

Three ways
to work.

Ongoing, finite, or interim, according to where the organization is now.

  1. I

    Retainer

Ongoing management, the standard for association work and for organizations that want operations permanently handled. A defined scope, a fixed annual fee.

  2. II

    Project

A finite build with a finish line: an operations and governance review, a systems launch or rebuild.

  3. III

    Interim & advisory

Senior cover through a transition, whether a departure, a merger, or a first year, or a standing advisory seat for leaders who need judgement more often than hours.
